My name is Thomas Mitchell and like so many others out there, I spent years desperately trying to perfect the art of lock picking.
When I was a naughty little kid, my dad would always lock my toys inside an old room as punishment. On one of my boring afternoons after school, I decided to go get my toys no matter what. If I remember clearly, it was a very old goal lock. I spent a week turning the knob over and over back and forth hoping it was going to open.
Finally, I gave up and considered that I should insert something into the keyhole to open it. It took me 3 hours the next day. I was beginning to understand it. Little did I know, it was the day that would change my life forever.
The Inevitable Started To Happen.
I was addicted to it. The thrill of picking the locks, looking at them and understanding each kind. There was no lock I couldn’t open when I hit my teens. I kept on studying and practicing long hours to open specific locks.
After a few years, college came around. I would use this skill to impress girls to open their car doors. The hard part though came during my first year in college. My learning about lock picking stopped because I was busy with school work. I couldn’t spend much time to practice let alone read materials. As technology progressed, better locks were developed while I was stuck studying. It came to a point where I couldn’t even open any locks except one of the old door locks of the shed in school.
And that was the point when I realized I had to do something about it.
It was time for me to get help…
I enrolled in 7 day course under a “master” locksmith I met. An hour each day for a week. It was expensive but I thought it would be worth it. He showed me some tricks that I have never seen before but not really practical. Learning from him was confusing especially because he couldn’t explain things right, his illustrations are not visually clear and appealing and there were no exercises for me to practice with. It was a complete waste of my college money.
Over the years, I just kept buying books I could get my hands on and joining mini courses when my time allowed me to.
I was working my way through hundreds of dollars which was becoming a problem, especially as a student.
When I graduated, I decided to pursue this field and eventually became a locksmith. Over the years, I have repaired and sold countless locks and learned how to use modern lock picks. I consumed every information product out there, from attending seminars to even buying courses online.

To put it into a test, I asked a friend of mine to read and study this and gave him 3 days. We met and I asked him to unlock the Schlage lock I use for my basement. To my amazement, he was able to unlock it almost instantly.
