I know that, in some states, the possession of a lockpick without a good reason (such as a job in law enforcement or locksmithing) is illegal and taken as evidence of criminal intent.
I find it useful to carry picks for a few locked cabinets whose keys have been lost, but that I have complete legal access to. Plus, I like lockpicking. However, I’m not certain that my hobby is legal in my state.

I don’t think you should be so certain that it is legal in your state. In Michigan (Ohio’s neighbor), there is a crime called "Possession of Burglary Tools". I’m sure carrying a lockpick would fall under this statute.

Well, as long as your ‘hobby" doesn’t let you into my house, you should be fine. I’m heavily armed.
Okay… bizarre hobby… but… if you are ever questioned about it and you explain your reason for having the pick and as long as you don’t have a record, I’m sure the cops would let you go; however, they will probably confiscate the pick. Why don’t you try stamp collecting?

Your hobby is lockpicking. Whose locks – you’re own or others lol. Not surprised it’s illegal in some states – I mean you can break into people’s homes and cars with it.

I would very much doubt have a lock pick in any place other than Liverpool would be illegal
You surley cant be serious you cant have a lock pick on you that shows that you are about to pick a lock no good you will be arrested and put into a jail ( dont pick up th esoap in the showers ! )
